Advertisement No. 62/9-2026 was dated 19 September 2026. The last date for online application and fee payment is 16 October 2026, 11:59 PM. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

1.      A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule, other than licentiate qualifications, to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

2.      Candidates having qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule must fulfil the conditions specified under Section 13(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

3.      Completion of compulsory rotating internship.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Post Graduate Degree or Diploma included in the specified schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
  • Postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution as mentioned in Appendix-A.
  • Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment under the conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.

Important qualification date

Eligibility regarding essential qualification and experience is determined with reference to the closing date for submission of the Online Recruitment Application through the ORA portal.


Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 45 years
  • Age Cut-off Date: 01 January 2026.

The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate will be accepted. Subsequent requests for changing the date of birth will not be entertained.


Age Relaxation

A 5-year upper-age relaxation is admissible to:

  • Bonafide SC of Himachal Pradesh
  • ST of Himachal Pradesh
  • OBC of Himachal Pradesh
  • WFF of Himachal Pradesh
  • Persons with Disabilities of Himachal Pradesh

For H.P. Government employees and Ex-Servicemen of H.P., age relaxation is as per Government instructions and the detailed Age Limits provisions.

The relaxation for these categories is available only where a post is reserved for the respective category.


Selection Process / Recruitment Process

The selection process consists of:

1.      Objective Type Screening Test / Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test

2.      Personality Test.

Paper-II

  • Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT)
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Total Marks: 120
  • Syllabus to be decided by the Commission from time to time.

Personality Test

  • Total Marks: 30
  • Conducted at the Commission's office at Shimla.
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • General category: 40% = 12 marks
    • Reserved categories: 30% = 9 marks.

Final ranking/selection is based on marks obtained in SAT (120 marks) + Personality Test (30 marks), subject to the conditions mentioned in the advertisement.


SAT Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • General category: 45%
  • Reserved categories: 40%

Candidates securing less than the prescribed marks will be disqualified from the remaining selection process.


Negative Marking

For objective-type screening tests:

  • Wrong answer: 1/4 (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question deducted
  • More than one answer: treated as wrong and the same penalty applies.
  • Leaving a question completely blank also attracts the same penalty.
  • Option E should be selected where the candidate does not wish to answer, to avoid negative marking.

Pay Scale / Salary Details

Job Trainee Emoluments: ₹34,000 per month.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step

1.      Visit the official HPPSC website.

2.      Click “Apply Online” on the Home Page.

3.      Click “One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations.”

4.      New users should click “New Registration” and create their profile.

5.      Existing users should log in to their OTR account.

6.      The list of live advertisements will appear on the dashboard.

7.      Select the relevant Medical Officer advertisement.

8.      Fill in the required application details.

9.      Upload all required documents.

10. Upload the latest photograph and signature.

11. Preview and verify all uploaded documents.

12. Pay the prescribed ₹600 examination fee through the permitted online mode.

13. Submit the application before the closing date.

14. After submission, corrections/modifications are generally not allowed except for category change according to the specified procedure.

Applications submitted through any mode other than the official online portal will be rejected.


Documents Required

The following documents are required to be uploaded where applicable:

1.      Matriculation Certificate for age proof.

2.      Degree Certificates.

3.      Marks Sheets of all years / Consolidated Mark Sheet.

4.      Experience Certificate(s) wherever required.

5.      Valid SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/Ward of Ex-Servicemen/WFF/PwBD category certificates, wherever applicable.

6.      Bonafide Himachali Certificate for reserved-category candidates.

7.      EWS Income & Asset Certificate or valid BPL Certificate, as applicable.

8.      Non-SC/ST/OBC certificate where required for EWS/BPL claim.

9.      Ex-Servicemen Discharge Certificate/Service Book.

10. PPO details, rank and NOC with retirement date where required for Ex-Servicemen.

11. Proof of gratuity for eligible SSCOs released on or after 13 February 2020.

12. Required undertakings/affidavits wherever applicable.

13. Latest photograph.

14. Signature.

Original certificates must be produced at the Personality Test/Document Verification stage.


Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

  • Candidates must read the Commission's instructions before applying.
  • Candidates must ensure eligibility regarding category, age, experience and qualification.
  • Reservation benefits are available to eligible Bonafide Himachal Pradesh residents in the specified reserved categories.
  • Reserved-category candidates from other States will be treated as General Category and will not receive reservation or fee concession.
  • Regular Government-service candidates must obtain/produce the required NOC.
  • Examination fee is non-refundable.
  • Correct email ID and mobile number must be provided.
  • Aadhaar number is optional.
  • Disputes are subject to Court jurisdiction at Shimla.
  • Entry to the examination venue closes 30 minutes before the scheduled examination.

Other important conditions

  • Examination centres may be changed at the discretion of the Commission.
  • Vacancy numbers may increase or decrease.
  • Appearing in the Personality Test does not guarantee selection.
  • Re-checking/re-evaluation of written/screening tests is not allowed.
  • False information, false documents or suppression of material information can result in disqualification and other action.
  • Candidates appearing at a centre other than the allotted centre may have their candidature rejected.

E-Admit Card

  • Admit cards will not be sent by post.
  • Candidates must download the e-admit card from the official website.
  • A passport-size photograph, duly self-attested/attested by a Gazetted Officer, must be pasted on the downloaded e-admit card.
  • Failure to do so can prevent the candidate from appearing in the written examination.

Scribe/Reader

Candidates with benchmark disability of 40% or more requiring a scribe/reader must request it in writing along with the disability certificate at least 7 days before the screening test.
